Group Meeting: I read the Eric Carle book Do You Want to Be My Friend? The words in the title of this book are the only words to the story. A little mouse is saying these words to an animal. We only see the animal's tail until we turn the page. It was fun to guess what animal was next just by looking at it's tail.
Small Groups: The activities for this week are listed in yesterday's post. The schedule for today was:
Activity #1 Yellow Group
Activity #2 Green Group
Activity #3 Red Group
Story: The story for today was The Mixed-up Chameleon by Eric Carle. There once was a small green chameleon that wished to be handsome like a
flamingo, smart like a fox, and funny like a seal. But with each
transformation in size, shape, and color, the chameleon learns that
maybe being yourself is best of all. After I read this book, I asked the children if Eric Carle was trying to teach us something with this book. Ask your child to tell you what we learned.
Large Group: The children went to the Outdoor Classroom.
Letter Learning: Yesterday, we learned that the letter I can be a word to describe yourself. Today, I put the word "see" next to the letter I. We made up sentences that said, "I see _____."
Snacks: The morning snack was graham crackers, frosting, and juice brought by Malia Y. The afternoon snack was pretzels, cheese sticks, and juice brought by Willie. Thank you, Malia and Willie!
