Eric Carle

Group Meeting:  This week, we will be reading books written and illustrated by Eric Carle.  I read The Very Hungry Caterpillar during Group Meeting.  We had quite a few reading papers come in today.  Our total is now 1470.  Very nice!

Small Groups:  The activities for this week are listed below as well as the schedule for today.
Activity #1 (Red Group) After listening to The Very Hungry Caterpillar, the children made a sequence drawing of the story.  They drew the beginning, middle, and end of the story.
Activity #2  and Activity #3  (Yellow Group and Green Group)The children are working on projects for the Art Show.  I'm not sharing any information so that the projects will be a surprise.

Story:  The story for today was The Very Lonely Firefly by Eric Carle.  After a firefly is born, it searches for another firefly light so that it is not lonely.  It sees a light, but it is a lightbulb.  It sees another light, but it is a candle.  The story continues as the firefly sees many things that you would see on a summer evening.  Ask your child to tell you what it sees up in the sky.

Large Group:  The children went to the Outdoor Classroom.

Letter Learning:   The children completed the third round of the alphabet last week.  This week, we are going to learn how putting letters together can make words.  We will learn a few sight words along the way.

Snacks:  The morning class snack was strawberries, carrots, ranch dip, and milk brought by Malia S.  The afternoon snack was Goldfish and juice brought by Stella.  Thank you, Malia and Stella!
