Group Meeting: We took a few minutes to admire everyone's pajamas before we got started! We looked very cozy and comfortable.
Small Groups: The children counted items into a 10 frame. We did numbers 1-10 to check our counting skills.
This week ends a checkpoint period for our GOLD assessment. We have one more checkpoint period for this school year. I'll be sharing information from this assessment when we meet in April.
Story: I read the story Piggies in Pajamas by Michelle Meadows. Five little piggies are supposed to be in bed, but they are not tired. They crawl out of bed and begin to play. Suddenly, they hear footsteps. Is it Mama? They hurry back to bed. Mama doesn't come, so they begin to play again. This happens several times until something happens that frightens the little piggies. Ask your child to tell you what has frightened them and where the piggies end up at the end of the story.
Large Group: The children learned about how popcorn pops. I took an electric fry pan and put oil and popcorn in it. I put on the lid and we listened. While we were listening, I explained how the moisture in the popcorn gets hot and needs to escape. This causes an explosion which creates the popcorn. Once we could hear the popcorn popping, I removed the lid. We watched it pop all over the protective table cloth. Once it cooled, we tried a piece. It was a little bland without salt and butter! (I took some pictures, but they hadn't downloaded yet. I'll try adding them tomorrow.)
Letter Learning: The morning class worked on the letter Jj. The afternoon class did Kk.
Snacks: The morning snack was bagels, cream cheese, and juice brought by James. The afternoon class had Goldfish and juice brought by Landon. Thank you, James and Landon!
