Group Meeting: For Toy Tuesday, I introduced the children to some new characters and furniture pieces from a castle play set. I have been thinking about starting a castle/king/queen study next week. I want to see if this would be a topic that they would be interested in. I'll let you know how it goes.
Small Groups: The activities for this week are listed in yesterday's blog. The schedule for today is:
Activity #1 Yellow Group
Activity #2 Green Group
Activity #3 Red Group
Story: The story for today was Pete the Cat: Rockin' in My School Shoes by Eric Litwin. Pete the Cat is going to school for the first time. He visits the library, the lunchroom, and the playground. Is Pete worried about his new environment? Goodness, no! It's all good. After reading the book, we talked a little about Kindergarten Round up that has taken place or is coming up for some of the children. All of the children agreed, it's all good!
Large Group: Since we had just read the book about Pete and his school shoes, we played the Shoe Game. We played this game around Christmas time when we read the story about the Shoemaker and the elves. The children remove their shoes and hide one. Then, they switch shoes with the friend and try to find the match.
Letter Learning: The letter for the morning class was Tt. The afternoon class is on the letter Vv.
Bee Kind: We sent home a few Bee Kind notes today. We will be trying to catch all of the children being kind this week.
Snacks: The snack for the morning class was Cinnamon Sugar Bel vita bars and juice brought by Malia Y. The afternoon snack was carrots, ranch dip, and milk brought by Stella. Thank you, Malia and Stella!
