Group Meeting:  We have removed the Pumpkin Patch/Apple Orchard items from the Housekeeping Area and have installed a new grocery store area.  For Toy Tuesday, I showed the children how the scanner, conveyor belt, and debit machine works.  They  have been taking turns buying and selling groceries.

Small Groups:  The activities for this week are listed in yesterday's post.  The schedule for today was:
Activity #1 Yellow Group
Activity #2 Green Group
Activity #3 Red Group

Story:  The story for today was Ten Little Pilgrims by B. G. Hennessy.   Ten little Pilgrims and ten little Wampanoag boys and girls are getting ready for the harvest feast. In colonial Plymouth, the Pilgrims hunt ducks and geese and dig up turnips and carrots. In a nearby village, the Wampanoag dig for clams, fish for cod, and gather nuts and berries. Finally it’s time for the meal. First everyone gives thanks, then it’s time to eat and celebrate.

Large Group:  The children played a game that I call "The Turkey and Farmer Game".  At the beginning of the game, all of the children are turkeys except for one who is the farmer.  The turkeys stand on one side of the room.  The farmer stands in the middle.  The farmer picks a color.  The turkeys who have that color on their feathers (clothing) get to cross safely to the other side of the room.  The rest of the turkeys must try to run past the farmer without being tagged.   If the turkey is tagged, the farmer keeps it and recruits it to help tag more turkeys.  The children had a great time running and tagging.  They asked to play it again.

Letter Learning:  The letter for today was Vv.

Snacks:  The snack for the morning class was Nutrigrain bars and milk brought by Josie.  The snack for the afternoon was Teddy Grahams and juice brought by Kinley.  Thank you, Josie and Kinley!
