I want to thank you for attending Parent/Teacher Conferences this week. It's always great to touch base with everyone. I wish we had time to do it more often.
Group Meeting: We have begun a Book Challenge. A note went home on Monday and Tuesday to explain how this challenge will work. We are trying to collectively read 2000 books by the end of April. We had four children return their reading papers already today. Four pieces of pizza were added to the bulletin board.
Small Groups: This week, we are learning about author/illustrator Lois Ehlert. During Small Group time, I read the story Rain Fish. In this book, Lois Ehlert has created fish out of scraps that you would see floating down the street during a rain storm. Newspapers, receipts, tickets, bottle caps, and cardboard are just a few of the things that float together and begin to look like fish.
Story: During story time, I read Leaf Man by Lois Ehlert. When the leaves from the trees fall to the ground, they form a shape that looks like a Leaf Man. As the wind blows Leaf Man, we see other shapes that resemble animals made from leaves. Ask your child to tell you about some of the animals that were made with leaves.
Large Group: The children went to the Outdoor Classroom. We will be going out as often as we can, now that the weather is good. Please send jackets if the weather is cool.
Letter Learning: The letter for today was Ss.
Snacks: The morning snack was Goldfish and juice brought by Finn. The afternoon snack was Paw Patrol grahams and milk brought by John. Thank you, Finn and John!
