I'm not sure of what happened yesterday. I did the blog after school, but it didn't save. Sorry! Let's try again.
Group Meeting: This week, we are learning about animals that are getting ready for winter. Hibernation and migration are our key words.
Small Groups: The activities for this week are listed below.
Activity #1 (Tuesday, Red Group/ Wed., Yellow) The children used a balance scale to determine the weight of a scissors, glue bottle, crayon and paint brush. They used plastic bears as counter weight. They also measured the length of those items with the bears. Their results were recorded on a paper.
Activity #2 (Tuesday Yellow Group/Wed. Green) The children made a book about animals that hibernate. They had to cut and glue.
Activity #3 (Tuesday, Green Group/Wed. Red)The children listened to the story The Letters are Lost and listened for rhyming words.
Story: The story for today was Goldilocks and the Three Bears. This classic tale is always a favorite. I like that this version ends with a question: Will Goldilocks return to the forest?
Large Group: The children acted out the story of Goldilocks and the Three Bears. We used a few basic props and provided the narration. The children provided the words for the characters.
Letter Learning: We are doing the letters in alphabetical order this time. Yesterday was Aa. Today was Bb. The children will be using dry erase boards to make the letters.
Snacks: The morning class had peaches and milk brought by Abby. Thank you, Abby! The afternoon class had graham crackers and juice.
