Group Meeting:  The children listened to the nursery rhyme of the Three Little Kittens.  The kittens lost their mittens and it made them sad.  I told the children that I don't want them to lose their things at preschool.  So, everyone has a cubbie in which to put their items.  I also encouraged them to write a name on their art work and papers so that we know who to send them home with.  If they don't know how to write yet, we can help them.

On Thursdays, the children will receive a Let's Find Out magazine.   The magazine comes with an educational video for us to watch first.  After we watch the video, the children look at their magazine and complete the back page.  Sometimes the work is easy and sometimes a little challenging.  Today's topic was school feelings.  We discussed being happy, sad, nervous and excited.

Story:  The story for today was Harry the Dirty Dog by Gene Zion.  Harry is a white dog with black spots.  He hates taking a bath.  When his family begins to run water in the bathtub, he buries and scrub brush and decides to run away.  While he wanders around town, he gets very dirty.  After a while, he decides to go back home.  Because he is so dirty, his family does not recognize him.  Ask your child to tell you how convinces his family that he is Harry!

Large Group:  The children listened to Zoe and Max tell them about raising hands when they want to tell the teacher something.  Afterwards, the children went to the Outdoor Classroom to explore.

Snacks:  The snack for today was Chex Mix and juice.  Some of the children really enjoyed this and wanted me to tell their parents to buy it at have a home:)

I'm posting a few pictures from this week.  I tried to get everyone in, but may have missed a few.  The pictures are from morning and afternoon classes.   I will take pictures when and if I have time throughout the year.

First Day Success!

Group Meeting:  The children learned about our 10 frame counting chart.  We will put a sticker on the chart every day and keep track of how many days we have been at school.  The children listened to me recite the Pledge of Allegiance while putting a right hand on their heart.

Story:  The story for today was Little Blue and Little Yellow by Leo Lionni.   Little Blue and Little Yellow are color dots.  They have a mom and a dad.  One day, Little Blue and Little Yellow hugged each other and turned green.  When they returned home, their parents did not recognize them.  Ask your child to tell you how they became Little Blue and Little Yellow again.

Large Group:  The children listened to the classroom rules.   The puppets, Zoey and Max, talked to the children about sitting on the rug while being polite to the others in the class.
The children danced to the Bean Bag Boogie.  During this song, the children had to balance a bean bag on a body part while dancing and not let the bean bag fall on the floor.  I heard lots of giggling during this time.

Snacks:  The children had granola bars with apple juice.  They learned to take a snack and pass the basket to the person sitting next to them.  They also learned to pour juice or water into a cup.

I thought today was a great start to our school year.   I saw lots of smiles.  Tomorrow, I'll post a few pictures that I was able to take.   Thank you, parents for being patient in the car line while we learn new faces and vehicles!

Welcome to School Day

I really enjoyed our Welcome to School Day.  The children did very well.  It gives us a good start to the school year knowing some of the routine.  Everyone was given a copy of the September newsletter.  If you ever misplace your newsletter, please ask for another copy.  I'm looking forward to tomorrow!

Hello, again!  My guessing game might be a little harder today.  These pictures were taken at places that I visited several times during the summer.  My children are in the pictures with me.  We are at places that they like to visit often in the summer.  When we are at these places, they go really fast.

If you guessed that I am at a race track, you are correct!  My daughter likes to race dirt bikes, and my son likes to race motorcycles.  During the summer, my husband and I visit the race tracks that they go to and watch them race.  Sometimes they go too fast and I have to close my eyes.  I am looking forward to getting to know what you like to do for fun.  I'll see you next week!

Hello again.  Are you ready to guess where I am today?  Take a look at this picture.  I eat most of my meals here.  I sleep here. Can you tell where I am?
Me and Marvin

I am at my housee.  I live out in the country, just a few miles north of DeWitt.  I live with my husband, Mr. Christiansen.  I have two children that are grown-ups, Rayce and Renee.  They have their own houses now.   In this picture, you can see my cat Marvin.  She lives in the house with me.  I also have three ducks that live outside in their own house.  I can tell you the names of my ducks when I see you at school.

Check again next Monday for another picture of me in one of my favorite places.

Hello!

Hello!  Welcome to my blog page.  Do you like to play guessing games?  Take a look at the picture below.  Can you guess where I am?  I'll give you a few clues.  This picture was taken in front of my favorite place to be when I am not at my house.  At this place, I play games, read books, and eat snacks.

If you guessed that I am at Redeemer Preschool, you were right.  I have been busy getting things ready for school to start in a few weeks.  We have been doing a lot of cleaning and making repairs so that everything will be ready.  I have been receiving a lot of boxes with art supplies and new toys to add to the classroom.  It's always fun to get new things.  It will be fun to share all of those things with everyone in our class.  Check this page again next Monday, and we will play this guessing game again.
